Implicit Bias

Implicit bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner. These biases are not accessible through introspection, meaning that individuals often are not aware of the influence these biases have on their perceptions and behavior. Implicit biases are pervasive and can manifest in various domains such as race, gender, age, and other demographic characteristics. By studying implicit bias, individuals will learn about its origins, how it operates psychologically, the various impacts it has on society, and strategies to mitigate or reduce its effects.
